Ingredients Needed

We’re using all the classic s’more ingredients for this air fryer s’mores recipe. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Graham Crackers: I like to keep it classic with plain graham crackers.
  • Marshmallows: Use half of a regular-sized marshmallow for each s’more; half of a large marshmallow works too!
  • Chocolate: Whatever chocolate bar you love best will work – we tend to lean towards dark chocolate.

How to Cook S’mores Without a Fire

This sweet treat takes a quick 5 minutes to make, so you can enjoy a classic s’more anytime you want!

  • Prep the graham cracker and marshmallow: Cut each marshmallow in half and break each graham cracker in half. Place the marshmallow halves sticky side down on one half of each graham cracker.
  • Air Fry: Place the graham crackers topped with marshmallow into the air fryer and cook at 390ºF for 3 minutes.
  • Add the chocolate and serve: Add the chocolate to the marshmallow. Optionally, air fry for an additional 20 seconds (this will result in melted chocolate). Otherwise, top with the other half of the graham cracker, then enjoy!

Lexi’s Tips for the Best Air Fryer S’mores

Keep a close eye on your marshmallows during cooking, as air fryers can vary, and they toast quickly. A piece of parchment paper in the basket helps prevent sticking and makes cleanup easy. If you’re making more than a couple, work in batches so everything cooks evenly.

  • If you prefer your marshmallows to be toasty, feel free to add more time. I recommend starting with 3 minutes, checking them, then adding time as needed.
  • If you’re using jumbo marshmallows, plan for 4 minutes of air frying time.
  • If you like melty chocolateafter adding your chocolate, place it in the air fryer for 15-30 seconds, then top with the remaining graham cracker half!
  • Customize. Feel free to experiment with various flavors of graham crackers, different types of chocolate, and even different flavors of marshmallows. Try Reese’s peanut butter cups, cookies and cream chocolate, strawberry marshmallows, honey, cinnamon, or chocolate graham crackers, you name it.

Fun Flavor Variations

  • Nutella S’mores: Spread Nutella on the graham crackers before air frying.
  • Peanut Butter Lovers: Add a smear of peanut butter or use peanut butter cups instead of chocolate squares.
  • Salted Caramel: Use caramel-filled chocolate squares and finish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.

FAQ’s

Do I Need to Break the Marshmallows in Half?

Yes! Cutting the marshmallows in half allows you to press the sticky “cut” side down onto the graham cracker before air frying.

This is necessary because the Graham crackers are relatively light, so they will move around as they cook. If the marshmallows aren’t sticky enough, they can fall off the crackers and make a huge mess.

Can I make these ahead of time?

S’mores are best enjoyed right after air frying, while the marshmallow is warm and the chocolate is slightly melty. If you need to prep them ahead, try just to prep the ingredients and fry when ready to enjoy!

Are Marshmallows Vegan?

Generally, no, but they do sell vegan options. So look for that if you desire!

Do I Need to Use Parchment Paper When Making S’mores?

Not necessarily, but you definitely can.

Lining the air fryer basket with parchment paper or foil is a great way to keep the clean-up super easy. Feel free to use either one if preferred!

Can I use mini marshmallows?

Mini marshmallows are an option, but they can shift around or melt unevenly. Regular-sized marshmallows are easier to control and deliver that perfect s’mores texture.

Are these kid-friendly?

Absolutely! Air fryer s’mores are a great activity to make with kids—just be sure to supervise since the air fryer gets hot.

Can I make these in the oven?

Follow the steps as listed, but do it on a foil-lined baking sheet in the oven instead!
