BOONI: Upper Chitral’s scenic Broghil Valley will host its annual Broghil Festival from August 28 to August 30.

The festival showcases the region’s natural beauty, unique culture, and traditional sports to the world. It also creates jobs, business opportunities, and economic growth for the local community.

The festival promotes tourism and directly supports local artisans, craftsmen, and entrepreneurs. It aims to empower the community while preserving natural resources and encouraging sustainable development.

Organizers say the festival will feature cultural performances, traditional music, and handicraft exhibitions. Visitors will get an immersive experience of the valley’s rich heritage. Traditional sports like polo and archery will also take place, highlighting the area’s long-standing customs.

Local leaders urge tourists and media to attend responsibly. They want to protect Broghil’s fragile ecosystem. The festival not only boosts the economy but also strengthens community pride and unity.

However, recent floods damaged roads in several Yarkhun Valley villages. The poor road conditions make travel hard for locals and visitors. This situation creates serious challenges for transport and access.

Local residents especially youth have been running a campaign with protest rallies pressing government departments and public representatives to construct the track from Mastuj to Broghil but to no avail.

They once again have stress the need to repair roads quickly to support tourism and local livelihoods.
