If you’re looking for an easy, yet impressive meal that’s perfect for a quick weeknight dinner, these Broiled Steak Skewers with Tahini Sauce are just the thing. Full of Middle-Eastern flavor, and packed with protein, the steak pairs wonderfully with the creamy, garlic tahini sauce. I love to use the broiler as an almost indoor grill, but you could definitely make these skewers outside on the grill, too!

Ingredients

  • Steak: I usually use sirloin or flank steak for my skewers, and cut them into cubes.
  • Tahini: Made from sesame seeds, it’s rich and nutty and is the base for many delicious Middle-Eastern sauces.
  • Spices: Garlic, cayenne, smoked paprika, cumin, and salt give this steak and tahini sauce lots of flavor!
  • Bell pepper: I like to use red bell peppers for their sweetness, but you could use any color.
  • Onion: Red onion adds color as well as flavor to the skewers.

How to Make Broiled Steak Skewers with Tahini Sauce

Step 1. Make your marinade for the steak by adding the spices and olive oil to a bowl.

Step 2. Add your cubed steak to the bowl and toss well until evenly coated int he marinade. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Step 3. Alternating between the pepper, onion, and steak, thread your ingredients on the skewers.

Step 4. Layer the skewers on a prepared baking sheet, then broil on high for 2-3 minutes a side. Let rest for about 10 minutes.

Step 5. While steak is resting, make your tahini sauce by juicing your lemon and grating more garlic.

Step 6. Add the lemon juice, garlic, tahini, and some water to a bowl and whisk until smooth. If you like a kick of heat, you can add a pinch of cayenne, too.

You can for sure! I always call my broiler my indoor grill, so you can use the two for the same things!

The skewers can easily be assembled the day or night before, then let them sit covered in the fridge until you’re ready to broil or grill them!

  1. In a large bowl, mix olive oil with garlic, cumin, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss in steak cubes and let sit for 15 (or up to 24 hours in the fridge).

    1.5 pounds sirloin or flank steak, 2 tablespoons olive oil, 3 cloves garlic, 1 teaspoon salt, 1 teaspoon cumin, 1 teaspoon smoked paprika, 1/2 teaspoon cayenne

  2. To form the skewers, thread steak alternating with red onion and bell peppers.

  3. Preheat broiler to high. Broil skewers for 2–3 minutes per side, for a medium-rare to medium inside (more or less to reach desired doneness.) Let beef rest 10 minutes.

  4. While beef is resting, begin making tahini garlic sauce by whisking tahini, lemon juice, garlic, salt and pinch of cayenne in a small bowl. Slowly whisk in warm water until you’ve reached desired consistency.

  5. To serve, drizzle beef skewers with tahini garlic sauce and serve over rice pilaf or with warm pita bread. Garnish with fresh parsley.
