Key Takeaways

  • Chick-fil-A is changing one of its lesser-known menu items and bringing it to menus nationwide.
  • The new product will always roll out to grocery stores later this fall.

Despite being known for its chicken sandwich, Chick-fil-A has dozens of fantastic menu items that you can’t find anywhere else. From its iconic Frosted Lemonade—made with its Icedream dessert—to its signature sauces and fan-loved waffle fries, the chain is so much more than just a chicken joint.

With customers constantly attempting to “hack” Chick-fil-A’s menu to create new items—like the TikTok-famous bowl and frosted sodas—it feels like there’s a lot of “if you know, you know” menu items out there. And Chick-fil-A’s potato chips are one of them.

Chick-fil-A has offered its Waffle Potato Chips for years—typically in its catering orders, but you could always order the crunchy chips as a side, too. After many years spent in the back of the restaurant, Chick-fil-A has decided to revamp and market its waffle potato chips for the first time.

Beginning on Aug. 18, when Chick-fil-A’s new fall menu hits restaurants, the chicken chain is reintroducing its Original Flavor Waffle Potato Chips and adding all-new flavor of the chips to its menus.

Everything from the bag to the actual recipe of Chick-fil-A’s potato chips has gotten a makeover. The Original Flavor Waffle Potato Chips are now thicker-cut for more crunch and feature a sprinkle of sea salt for flavor. Unlike the old potato chips, the new chips aren’t lattice-cut and look more like a classic wavy chip you’d see at the grocery store.

In addition to the revamped original chips, Chick-fil-A is also releasing its first-ever flavored potato chip. The new Chick-fil-A Sauce Flavored Waffle Potato Chips are inspired by the fan-loved, bold and tangy Chick-fil-A sauce.

The new 1.5-ounce bags of potato chips will be available at all Chick-fil-A restaurants nationwide beginning Aug. 18, where you can order them as a side to your go-to meal or à la carte. Both the Original Flavor and Chick-fil-A Sauce Waffle Potato Chips will join menus as a permanent item.

Additionally, Chick-fil-A plans to bring its new potato chips to the grocery store, alongside its bottled sauces and dressings. Both flavors will be available in 7-ounce bags at select Publix, Kroger, and Walmart stores in the Atlantic and Southeast regions later this fall.

I tried the new potato chips early, and here is my honest review.

My Honest Review of Chick-fil-A’s Potato Chips

I’ll be honest, I didn’t really know that Chick-fil-A offered potato chips. Sure, I’ve probably seen them listed on the app before, but when I’m perusing side options, I’m looking for one thing: the waffle fries. So, I’d never actually tried Chick-fil-A’s old potato chips, but after trying the new ones, I don’t need to.

The new Original Flavor Waffle Potato Chips are the perfect ruffled chip. They have texture, a delicious crunch, and a great balance of salt. Now, the Chick-fil-A Sauce-flavored chips, on the other hand, might just be the best potato chips I’ve ever had.

I could eat Chick-fil-A sauce on just about anything, so adding the tangy, smoky, slightly barbecue-flavored essence to a crunchy, wavy potato chip is my dream come true. They’re like all-dressed chips but somehow even better. I cannot wait for the chips to hit grocery stores because my pantry will never be without the Chick-fil-A Sauce Flavored Waffle Potato Chips again.
