On Aug. 11, 2025, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the recall of a popular Dollar General coffee product due to potential glass contamination.
The recall of Clover Valley Instant Coffee was initiated after a customer alerted Dollar General to the possible issue. While no injuries have been reported, ingesting glass can cause serious harm, including broken teeth, cuts to the mouth or throat, and even internal damage.
How To Identify the Recalled Coffee
Three lots of 8-ounce Clover Valley Instant Coffee are affected by the recall: Lot L-5163 (Best By 12/13/2026), Lot L-5164 (Best By 12/13/2026), and Lot L-5165 (Best By 12/14/2026). The products can also be identified by UPC 876941004069. Customers can find the lot numbers and best-by dates printed around the neck of the jar.
The Clover Valley Instant Coffee was sold and distributed in Dollar General retail stores between July 9 and July 21, 2025, in the following states:
Alabama, Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, Nevada, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virginia, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
What To Do if You Have the Recalled Coffee
According to the FDA, Dollar General is investigating the source of the glass contamination. Customers are urged to throw away the affected coffee and contact Dollar General by email (customercare@dollargeneral.com) or phone (1-888-309-9030, 6 a.m.–1 a.m. CST daily) to receive a full refund.
