On Aug. 27, 2025, the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) announced a recall for Country Eggs, LLC, Large Brown Cage Free Sunshine Yolks Eggs due to a potential Salmonella contamination. The eggs were sold at grocery stores and delivered to food service distributors in two states: California and Nevada.

How To Identify the Recalled Eggs

You can identify the recalled brown eggs by the following brand names, “sell by” dates, and codes:

  • Nagatoshi Produce with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and Sept. 16, 2025, and No. CA 7695
  • Misuho with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and Sept. 16, 2025, and No. CA 7695
  • Nijiya Markets with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and Sept. 16, 2025, and No. CA 7695
  • 1/15 dozen bulk Country Eggs Large Brown Sunshine Yolks with “sell by” dates between July 1, 2025, and Sept. 16, 2025

Additionally, the FDA has provided images of the recalled packages for easy identification on its website.

What To Do if You Have the Recalled Eggs

At this time, 92 cases of Salmonella infections have been reported and linked to these brown eggs. No deaths have been reported in connection to the outbreak at this time.

If you have the recalled brown eggs, you should not consume them. Instead, throw them away or return them to the place of purchase for a full refund.

If you’ve already consumed the contaminated eggs, you should monitor yourself for symptoms of a Salmonella infectionwhich usually begin between six hours and six days after consuming the contaminated food. The most common symptoms include diarrhea, stomach cramps, headache, nausea, and vomiting.

While Salmonella can infect anyone, children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems are at higher risk for a serious and even fatal infection. Additionally, in rare cases, if the Salmonella organism gets into the bloodstream, it can cause severe illnesses, including arterial infections, endocarditis, and arthritis.
