PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Khan Gandapur chaired a high-level Deputy Commissioners Conference in Peshawar on Friday. The meeting aimed to improve public service delivery across all districts of the province.
The conference took place at the Chief Minister’s House. It was attended by cabinet members, the chief secretary, additional chief secretary, administrative secretaries, divisional commissioners, and all deputy commissioners.
Officials reviewed progress under the provincial government’s Good Governance Roadmap, which focuses on nine sectors: health, education, agriculture, livestock, tourism, social welfare, local government, administration, and security.
Gandapur set clear targets for deputy commissioners in seven priority areas. The deadline for achieving these goals is December 2025.
In the health sector, all primary health centres must have full-time staff, equipment, and medicines. Schools must ensure 100% teacher and student attendance and address all missing facilities. Agriculture centres must provide uninterrupted access to fertilizers, seeds, machinery, and pesticides.
Veterinary hospitals will be equipped with staff and medicines. Tourism sites must have fully functional facilitation desks and clean restrooms. Social welfare homes, such as Dar-ul-Amans, Panahgahs, and Zamung Kor centres, must be better managed.
The local government must improve cleanliness at public spaces like parks, bus stands, markets, and slaughterhouses. Proper sanitation, waste disposal, and staff deployment are mandatory in all village councils.
Price control and availability of quality food items are key administrative goals. The security sector must complete profiling of suspected terrorists as part of the provincial action plan.
The conference also reviewed a 99-point agenda for improving services. Reports showed positive developments. Third-party evaluations will now monitor progress.
Addressing the conference, CM Gandapur stressed the importance of DCs in delivering results. “All departments at the district level report to the DCs,” he said. “They will be held accountable for both success and failure.”
He directed DCs to report non-performing officials immediately. “Strict action will follow,” he warned.
He also assured DCs of full administrative powers to carry out their duties. “With authority comes responsibility. Accountability begins with you,” he added.
The chief minister said the government is investing heavily in public services. In return, he expects visible results. He instructed DCs to hold regular Khuli Kacharies with public representatives. He also urged them to use social media to collect citizen feedback and resolve issues.
Gandapur asked DCs to give equal attention to development projects and routine duties. He directed them to maintain quality and avoid unnecessary delays.
He also announced a Rural Sanitation Programme, which will place sanitation staff in every village council. He asked DCs to ensure proper implementation and involve local communities in the initiative.
