If there’s one thing I know about my dad, it’s that he likes to keep it simple. His work “uniform” is a gray t-shirt, Levi’s, and boots; he was wearing the “dad” New Balance shoes long before they were cool; and he’s a classic meat and potatoes kind of guy. Growing up, our meals usually consisted of a main dish, a side, and a vegetable. And sometimes that main dish was egg noodles with tomato soup and bacon, aka his mom’s specialty, but, seriously, don’t knock it until you try it.

So, of course, I’m not surprised that my dad has been eating the exact same lunch every day since he started working as a teen. That lunch consists of a ham sandwich (ham, cheese, and Miracle Whip only), an apple or an orange (sometimes both if he’s feeling spicy), and a package of Lance crackers. You’ve gotta admire the consistency.

Does he have a favorite pack of Lance crackers? Probably, but my house is always stocked with the Variety Pack from Sam’s Clubfilled with Toast Chee Peanut Butter, Toasty Peanut Butter, Toast Chee Cheddar Cheese, and Captain’s Wafers Cream Cheese & Chives, so he enjoys them all—though it’s clear the peanut butter varietals are his favorite since he saves them for last.

Now, the 120-year-old brand is releasing a new, limited-edition flavor for the first time in four years that might dethrone my dad’s go-to crackers. Lance, America’s number one cracker brand, is releasing a Nashville Hot flavor.

Lance Launches New Nashville Hot Crackers

This isn’t the first time Lance’s has gone spicy. It previously offered a Spicy Cheddar version of its Toast Chee sandwich crackers. However, the new Nashville Hot crackers are its hottest offering to date.

Lance’s Nashville Hot crackers lean into the brand’s Southern roots, and also the ever-popular flavors inspired by the spicy chicken sandwich staple of Tennessee. The new cracker sandwiches start with the classic Toast Chee Cheddar crackers filled with a new creamy Cheddar spread with a bold heat and dill pickle flavors.

While a few of Lance’s competitors, like Ritz and Munchies, offer “spicy” varieties of their sandwich crackers, Lance is the first brand to lean into the Nashville Hot trend with the uniquely bold flavor profile. The new crackers, with their blend of hot sauce and pickle flavor, are hitting shelves for a limited time this August.

Lance’s Nashville Hot sandwich crackers can be found in 10-packs at select retailers nationwide, including Walmart, Kroger, and Food Lion. So if you, like my dad, are ready to spice up snack time, you’ll want to add these hot and spicy crackers to your grocery list.
