TRINIDAD, August 9, 2025 — Pakistan beat West Indies by five wickets in the first ODI to take a 1–0 lead in the series.
Hasan Nawaz starred on debut with an unbeaten 63.
Pakistan won the toss and chose to field. They bowled West Indies out for 280 in 49 overs. Evin Lewis hit 60. Shai Hope made 55. Roston Chase scored 53. Gudakesh Motie added 31, and Keacy Carty made 30. Shaheen Afridi took four wickets. Naseem Shah claimed three.
Saim Ayub, Sufiyan Muqeem, and Salman Agha picked up one each.Chasing 281, Pakistan lost Saim Ayub for 5. Abdullah Shafique made 29 before falling. Babar Azam scored 47. Mohammad Rizwan hit a fluent 53. Salman Ali Agha added 23.
At 5 down, Pakistan still needed 64 runs. Hasan Nawaz stayed calm and attacked when needed. He finished unbeaten on 63. Hussain Talat supported with 41 not out.
They sealed the win with an over to spare.Shamar Joseph took two wickets. Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, and Roston Chase claimed one each.
Pakistan now lead the series with two matches left.
