Key Takeaways
- Popeyes has an all-new menu item that looks remarkably similar to a Burger King favorite.
- The new item is on menus for a limited time beginning July 14.
You’ll never be able to convince me that the fast food chains don’t live for the drama. I mean, who needs the Real Housewives when you’ve got fast food giants throwing shade at one another in real time.
While they certainly all take a turn making messy moves, lately, the messiest chain has been Popeyes. First, the Louisiana chicken chain dropped its Chicken Wraps just a month before McDonald’s brought back its Snack Wraps. Then, in case you thought it was a coincidence, Popeyes doubled down by giving its wraps away for free on the same day Mickey D’s wraps hit menus.
Just to make it clear that Popeyes isn’t only looking at McDonald’s, now the chicken chain is going after the King. The Burger King, that is. However, it’s not the Whopper that Popeyes is coming for.
Popeyes is adding all-new Chicken Dippers to its menu—and, is it just me, or do they remind you of BK’s Chicken Fries?
Popeyes Adds New Chicken Dippers to Menus
Allrecipes / Popeyes
Popeyes’ new Chicken Dippers are thin strips of all-white breast meat breaded with the chain’s signature Louisiana garlic and spice blend and fried to an extra-crispy bite. The new Chicken Dippers are even skinnier than Popeyes’ tenders—making them incredibly crispy, snackable, and, as the name suggests, dippable.
The Chicken Dippers debut alongside Popeyes’ first-ever Signature Sauce, which its customers have been asking for for years. The sauce is bold in flavor, combining Louisiana’s “holy trinity” of ingredients, bell pepper, celery, and onion, with garlic and hot sauce.
Much like Burger King’s Chicken Fries, Popeyes’ Chicken Dippers are more of a side than a full meal. However, if you’re looking to fill up, you can order the Chicken Dippers as part of Popeyes’ new, online-exclusive Build Your Own Bundle. When you order through the Popeyes app or site, you can order three menu proteins and two sides all for just $20.
While its new Signature Sauce is here to stay, Popeyes Chicken Dippers are only going to be available for a limited time, so let the Chicken Fry showdown begin.
