2025 has already been a wild ride for candy lovers. from new Snickers shapes to luxury-style Dubai Chocolate bars and even Pumpkin Spice Latte Nuggets (yes, in July). But the real spotlight this year has been on gummy candy. Starburst, Haribo, and even Trader Joe’s have all worked hard to make sure there’s no shortage of chewy treats any given week.

And with the biggest candy holiday of the year just around the corner, we’re only just getting started. A few creepy new Halloween confections have already crawled onto shelves, but it’s clear the best is yet to come—starting with a bold new release from Sour Patch Kids.

Sour Patch Kids Launches New Monster Heads

This Halloween, Sour Patch Kids have mutated into Monster Heads—a Frankenstein-style twist on the classic candies. Each Monster Head features a mashup of mismatched heads and bodies in different colors and flavors. Oh, and they’re twice the size of the original Kids.

Monster Heads come in three new flavor combos: Watermelon and Orange, Orange and Black Raspberry, and Black Raspberry and Watermelon. The bright purple, green, and orange colors deliver the perfect dose of Halloween spirit—and the super-sized shape means they’ll wreak even more sour-then-sweet havoc on your tongue.

This isn’t the first time the Kids have gone big. Some Sour Patch fans actually prefer the “Big Kids” versions of the classic treats, swearing they’re chewier and “somehow taste better” than their standard-sized siblings.

And because of their size, the Kids don’t come loose in the bag like usual. Instead, they’re individually wrapped, making them perfect for passing out to trick-or-treaters or tossing in Halloween party bowls.

Sour candy fans are already clearing shelves. On Instagram, one commenter said they’re “all in,” while another confessed they “wanna eat ’em by the fistful.” “I’ll take 5 bags!” added another.

So far, the Monster Heads have been spotted at Hy-Vee, but they’re expected to hit more shelves, and Amazon, by the end of August.

If this is just a taste of what the major candy brands have planned for Halloween, we’re in for a sweet, sour, and spooky season ahead.
