Summer delivers endless u-pick adventureswhich, in my opinion, are arguably the season’s best activities. Each June and July, I journey to a nearby farm and fill a bucket with hand-picked cherriesone careful pluck at a time. During the drive home, I snack on the juiciest ones, but the rest? They get proper treatment once they make it back to my kitchen: baked into piesfolded into ice creamor blended into smoothies.
But TikTok has a way of proving that the simplest preparations often bring out the best in fresh, seasonal staples. So, when a two-ingredient chocolate-covered cherry recipe popped up on my feed, I knew I’d found the no-fuss route for my pitted fruit. Best of all, it doesn’t even require turning on the oven.
Before committing my hand-picked haul, I tested the recipe on a batch of grocery store cherries, just to make sure it delivered. Read on to see how it went.
How To Make Chocolate-Covered Cherries
This two-ingredient recipe is basically a homemade TRUE dupe that requires minimal effort and no trip to Costco. Start by rinsing your cherries, then pat them dry. Next, melt the chocolate. I used dark chocolate.
While you can melt chocolate in a double boilerI prefer using the microwave because it’s quick and eliminates the need for a stove. For this recipe, I placed half a cup of dark chocolate, broken into pieces, in a microwave-safe bowl. I microwaved it in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the chocolate melted. This took about two minutes total. Once the chocolate is melted, work quickly to prevent it from hardening again.
Dip each cherry, alone or in pairs, into the chocolate and place them on a parchment-lined plate. Continue until you have used all the chocolate. Refrigerate the chocolate-covered cherries for approximately 15 minutes to allow the coating to set. Once firm, enjoy your dessert.

How To Upgrade Chocolate-Covered Cherries
What makes this two-ingredient dessert so great is how easy it is to prepare and customize. Start with the chocolate: dip the cherries in white, milk, ruby, or whatever kind you love. You can even melt a few types at once and swirl the cherries through each for a marbled effect.
Of course, the beauty of this recipe lies in its simplicity, but that doesn’t mean you have to stop at two ingredients. Sprinkle on shredded coconut, crushed Oreos, or chopped peanuts for extra texture and flavor.
At one point, I even removed the stems and pits, tossed a handful of these chocolate-covered cherries into a blender, and spun up a milkshake. Safe to say, this dessert has range, and you’ll want to keep a stash in your fridge all summer long.
