GARAM CHASHMA, Aug 6, 2025: The road widening project at Mandai on the Garam Chashma Road has resumed after a brief halt, following the timely and effective intervention of Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Zia.
Work had been temporarily paused earlier in the day, but resumed around 12 noon after the AC engaged with all concerned parties. Present at the meeting were the landowner, along with NHA Deputy Director Amir Zaib, who played a key role in facilitating the dialogue.
According to the NHA, it has been agreed that the road will be expanded by five to six meters, with a focus on clearing bottlenecks and straightening hazardous curves to ensure smooth traffic flow and enhance public safety.
This development reflects strong coordination between the district administration and the National Highway Authority, and has been widely welcomed by local residents. The administration thanked all stakeholders for their prompt and constructive involvement.
Progress on Dorah Pass Road Project
Efforts to modernize the Chitral–Garam Chashma–Dorah Pass Road (designated as N‑145) continue to make headway under the auspices of the National Highway Authority. The federalization of the route, which spans approximately 82.5 km, was approved in May 2020 and transferred to NHA oversight (chitraltoday.net, chitraltoday.net).
Since then, work has begun on repairing and widening the route, with the current width at 18 feet, and plans to expand it to 21 feet, plus 6‑foot shoulders on each side (chitraltoday.net)
In April 2025, community leaders across the Lotkoh Valley formally launched the Tehreek Lotkoh‑Dorah Road Movement to collectively demand expedited construction of the Dorah road. Elders vowed to set aside all political differences to pursue the project as a single cause, pledging continued unity until the road becomes a reality (chitraltoday.net).
