We’re in the middle of the summer, and personally, no time is better for a weekend brunch. I adore taking advantage of the cooler mornings (before the sun makes the day unbearable) and feasting on every brunch dish under the sun with my closest people. It’s a time to unwind, reset, and enjoy being in community–and honestly, what’s better than piles of berries on brioche French toastor mounds of scrambled eggs and bacon? No matter what dishes guests ask me to whip up at my brunches, there’s one staple I’ll never, ever exclude: mimosas.

Mimosas and I have a long history together, and I’ve seen her shine in many different iterations. The siren call of a pineapple or mango mimosa never fails to hypnotize me, and self-control goes out the window even around the most basic OJ-and-champagne concoctions–not to mention, my wallet doesn’t stand a chance when it comes to dining out for brunch. I find it impossible to have the quintessential bougie meal without a beverage to match.

To that end, as part of my foodie lifestyle, it’s only been fitting that I try my fair share of pre-made mimosas over the years (and I’ve had at least a dozen). Though they’re easy enough to make yourself, sometimes you need to bring a quick and easy bottle to a gathering–in these instances, bottled mimosas are lifesaving. So, of course, I had to try Trader Joe’s new find. To walk past the stand as bottles goaded me from their little corner nook would have been tantamount to heresy. It was a no-brainer purchase–my only regret now is that I didn’t buy at least five.

My Honest Review of Trader Joe’s New Classic Orange Mimosa

Now, we’ve already established that I’m a mimosa fan, but I don’t drink them without discernment–in fact, I’d call myself pickier than the average mimosa imbiber, simply because I’ve had too many versions of my beloved beverage. That doesn’t mean I won’t drink a subpar cocktail, but I definitely won’t wax poetic about one unless it deserves the acclaim. Take it from a self-proclaimed mimosa expert: This one does deserve it. Easily.

I should clarify my mimosa preference here—I like the boozy beverage to be strong but still easy to drink, and mimosas that taste too much like orange juice aren’t my vibe. Fortunately for Trader Joe’s, this put its bottled mimosa right up my alley. It’s strong on the champagne and very lightly bubbly, encapsulating the term “effervescent” perfectly. There’s nothing artificial about it–the orange is bright, though not punchy, but it’s still a very refreshing drink. The bottle has an 8 percent ABV—higher than many other pre-made versions I’ve tried—and that it managed to get a relatively high ABV without tasting too much like alcohol is quite the feat. Plus, how can you beat a $6.99 price point?

I’m not the only one who holds this opinion, either. Instagram influencer chef_trenita praises the bottled cocktail that she notes is a “Classic orange mimosa made with fresh juice and [sparkling] white wine” in a video review, before exclaiming, “I feel like Wyclef! Someone please call 911…this is really good. This could easily go up against any mimosa you have at any brunch spot.”

You won’t find much testimony about the drink online yet (after all, it’s still a wildly new release), but many on social media are excited to test this bottled wine cocktail out. Comments on traderjoesobsessed IG post highlighting the find include, “100% adding to cart,” “Buying this asap,” and “You got me running there right now!”

It’s an easy buy that won’t break the bank but definitely will satisfy your brunch craving, so what’s not to love? So do yourself a favor, drive to your nearest Trader Joe’sand pick one up. You’re quite unlikely to be disappointed.
